Choosing where to begin

You can start your trialling journey at EITHER Foundation OR Entry.

Choose wisely: once you’ve taken part in your first trial, there’s no hopping backwards or leapfrogging a stage.

Start at Foundation? You’ll work through Foundation > Pre-Entry > Entry before moving on.

Start at Entry? You'll work through Entry then move on through the stages. You won't be able to go back and complete Foundation or Pre-Entry.

Moving up a Stage

To move on to the next Stage, you need 2 badges in EACH element of that stage.

For Foundation, that means:

  • 2 × Interior badges

  • 2 × Exterior badges

  • 2 × Selection badges

If you’d like to stay at a Stage to further develop your skills, you can work towards Skills Awards by achieving 3 badges in each element.

The Skill Award pins are sent directly to you by The NNA when you complete the Skill Award Request, plus you achieve additional points in the league tables.

Once you've achieved 3 badges in every element, you MUST move up to the next Stage.

Title Challenges - Excellent & Above Stages

From Excellent stage onwards, competitors with Skill Awards may be invited to Title Challenges.

If you're moving up through the stages and skipping your Skills Awards, be aware you cannot go back later to earn your Skills Awards or gain title challenges at previous Stages.

Keeping Track
(aka saving future you)

The responsibility is on you to know:

  • what stage you’re in

  • how many element passes you’ve got

Think you’ll remember? You absolutely won’t.

Here’s how to stay sane:

  • Use your competitor score sheets from trials

  • Check your email results

  • Save everything in your NNA folder

  • Keep your badges together so you can see progress at a glance

  •  Use your own spreadsheet - or better yet, use the one we’ve made for you!

Future you will thank you!
